Stefano Santambrogio Partially Rusticated Dublin w/ Olivewood Estate Briar Pipe, Italian Estates

$ 81.00

There are a number pipe making dynasties in the world today, but these are typically cases where the son or daughter of a major artisan has followed in their parent’s footsteps. In other words, there are a number of notable second generation pipe makers, such as Tine Balleby and Lasse Skovgaard in Denmark. There are far fewer instances of third generation pipe makers (and, for fourth generation, fewer still), though where this does occur, the results are quite special. Tommi Ascorti of Caminetto is one example; Nanna Ivarsson is another; and so is Stefano Santombrogio—or, technically, Stefano Stantambrogio Jr. Stefano Santambrogio Sr began working as a pipe maker in the 19th century, rising through the ranks to become the manager of the Rossi factory in Barosso, before setting up his own independent workshop in 1912. Santambrogio pipes were crafted throughout the 20th century, with being passed down through each generation of the Santambrogio family. Stefano’s sons, Renzo and Armando Santambrogio took over in 1951; Stefano Santambrogio Jr took over in 1981. Today, Stefano Santambrogio Jr is the man responsible for Stefano Santambrogio pipes, with each being crafted by hand, and each being both eminently Italian and wholly unique. The condition is very good. Minor darkening and finish fading on the inner rim   Details: Length: 5.8″ / 147.3mm Bowl Width: 0.89 / 22.60mm Bowl Depth: 1.74″ / 44.19mm Weight: 2.1oz / 62g
