Brian Kalnitz Partially Rusticated Billiard Estate Briar Pipe, American Estates

Brian Kalnitz is a second-generation pipe maker and the pipe maker in residence of Smoker’s Haven, a specialty pipe shop in New York. The son of Milton Kalnitz, the man behind Bellezia pipes and the Bellezia Tobacco Shop where they’re sold, Brian was quick to settle into all aspects of the family business, and now even has a son, Adam Kalnitz, who makes pipes alongside him. This is one of Brian Kalnitz’s works. One might consider it an acorn billiard of sorts, blending elements of the modern and the traditional staples into something quite unique. A partial rustication on the lower half of the bowl adds even more distinction to the design, while serving as a foil to set off the “angel hair” straight grain lining its upper half.
